Rockland, asportswear retailer from St. Petersburg, is about to launch a new, larger, store format. The hypermarket-style store will stock approximately 50,000 SKUs (three brands represented – Nike, Adidas Originals and Lacoste) on a trading area of 1,800 m2 located in the Kontinent na Zvezdnoy shopping centre. The 1,800m2 store will be extended further, in two stages – firstly through a 700m2 extension scheduled to take place before the end of this year, and then through a 500m2 extension planned for spring 2011. Rockland has already invested $5m in the construction of the store and will require a further $2m to finance the construction of its planned extensions.
Aside from this new store, Rockland operates two stores in Kupchino, each of which stocks approximately 7,000 SKUs. The first company outlet was opened in 1998.
