The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) in Novosibirsk has imposed a RUB 2.2m ($71,100) fine on the pharmacy retailer
Farmatsia after finding it guilty of applying an unreasonably high trade mark-up on essential medicines. For a number of such products, the retailer was found to be applying a margin of up to 40%. The FAS ruled Farmatsia’s actions to be illegal and, in addition to leveraging the fine, ordered the company to lower its margins.
