Mobile operators grow retail business in the Urals

MTS-Ural and Vimpelcom,
mobile operators present on the Russian market, continue to expand their retail chains in the Urals.
Megafon-Ural has announced its aim to increase its current store count of 120 to 175 by the end of 2010. The company reported that the share of mobile phone subscriptions sold in the stores owned directly by operator went up from 10.5% to 29% during the period December 2009-July 2010.
MTS-Ural is also planning to increase its store count from 220 to 240 by the end of the year.
Vimpelcom (the operator of the
Beeline mobile network) is to expand its mono-brand retail presence. At present, Beeline operates approximately 60 outlets in the Urals region and is planning to open flagship stores in Yekaterinburg, Perm, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk.
