SABMiller sales up in Russia
2010-01-28
In Q4 2009 the beer producer
SABMiIller reported a 34% increase in sales volumes in Russia.
The company cited the fact that many Russian distributors increased their stocks at the end of 2009 in order to avoid paying the new level of excise tax, which came into force at the beginning of 2010, as a reason for the end-of-year increase. Another reason for the high percentage increase is the relatively low point-of-comparison figure – in Q4 2008 the financial crisis had only recently taken hold, thus having a detrimental impact on sales.
SABMiller operates two plants in Russia – in the Kaluga Province (with an annual capacity of 6 million hl) and the
Vladpivo factory in Vladivostok (annual capacity of 1 million hl).
