Adidas closes stores in Ukraine
2009-08-21
The
Adidas Group plans to close up to 11 unprofitable stores in Ukraine by the end of 2009. In addition, the company has decided to decrease its autumn-winter orders by 40% as its ability to sell the same volume of sports goods has been severely compromised by the recession. Instead, Adidas intends to concentrate on outlet stores to sell end-of-line collections and, to this end, two such outlets will appear in Donetsk and Kharkiv this year, while another two will be opened at the beginning of 2010.
The Adidas Group has been active on the Ukrainian market since 1996 and operates 115 stores, 13 of which are outlet stores.
