Smart phones to take up 30% of mobile phone market in Russia in 2012

The sale of smart phones is to take up a 30% share in the Russian mobile phone and electronic accessories market in 2012, according to experts' forecasts cited by bfm.ru. In 2011, the leading Russian mobile phone retailers,
Euroset,
Svyaznoy and
MTS, recorded significant growth of customers demand towards mobile electronics items in general and to smart phones in particular. In 2012, customers’ interests expected to remain the same.
According to retailers' estimations, cited by the source, in 2011 the sales within the Russian mobile phone market reached about 40-41 million items. In the case of Svyaznoy's sales, in 2011 smart phones took a 23% share in terms of volume, and about 50% in terms of value.
According to a bfm.ru report, the tendency within the Russian mobile phone and accessories market is that clients more and more orient their interest towards the latest technologies, i.e. smart phones, thus towards goods in higher price segments.
