Petrovich to invest in regional growth

Petrovich, a Russian DIY retailer, is to invest €40-45m ($53-60m) in five new openings of stores in Russia's Northwestern Federal District in 2012-2013. Specifically, the new outlets are to appear in Petrozavodsk (Republic of Karelia), Gatchina (Leningrad Province), Pskov, Vologda and Cherepovets (Vologda Province).
The first land site for a new Petrovich store has been acquired by the retailer in Petrozavodsk and it covers 1.5 ha. The store is to start operations in summer 2012. The store itself will take up an area of 800 m
2, however, it will be accompanied by a 14,000-m
2 warehouse.

Retaul Update Russia reported on a previous occasion, Petrovich opened its first franchise
Uroven DIY store on 4 July in Zelenogorsk in Leningrad Province. The company will continue to develop the Uroven franchise project in Leningrad Province and other regions in the Northwestern Federal District. By late 2011, another Uroven franchise outlet will open in the country. Overall, within the next four years, Petrovich expects to launch up to 20 franchise Uroven units in the region.
